The Broncos salary cap situation is pretty dire after Peyton Manning’s contract restructuring and the franchise tag being placed on Demaryius Thomas.
According to Spotrac, the Broncos only have $14 million in cap space to work with for free agency.

That might sound like a lot on the surface but, in reality, that could be two or three players only. They’ve got to be very careful with how they spend their cash.
Therefore, we’ve taken a look around at some of the more cost-conscious options still available on the NFL free agent market that the Broncos could target to fill holes on the roster.
Guard:
Daryn Colledge, Miami Dolphins
The nine-year pro has shown great versatility throughout his career, playing guard, left and right tackle at various stops. He’s also known as a leader and still is relatively durable at age 33 (played in 13 games last season).
Defensive tackle:
Henry Melton, Dallas Cowboys
The former Pro Bowler had five sacks for the Cowboys last season but didn’t have his option picked up. He’s still got a few more good seasons in him, despite some injury concerns, at just 28 years old.
Outside linebacker:
John Abraham, Arizona Cardinals

The 36-year-old is your prototypical 3-4 outside linebacker, perfect for Wade Phillips’ new defensive scheme. He had concussion problems that put him out for most of the 2014 season but still can get after the quarterback.
