AURORA, Colo. – Love is in the air at Colorado pot dispensaries, which are working hard to attract the Valentine’s Day crowd.”It’s doing something different, rather than a box of chocolates and a teddy bear,” said Sher Joudeh of Starbuds in Aurora. While you won’t find a dozen roses here, you can buy cookies, candy, brownies and flower buds — all with a buzz — some of the items dispensaries hope customers will fall in love with as gifts for their Valentine’s. “Every holiday, everything, it’s a way to drive business in,” said Joudeh.

Just like a flower shop, dispensaries like Starbuds are thinking of that next promotion, pitching buy-one-get-one-free specials.Customers will see advertisements on Twitter and Facebook, specifically targeting the Valentine’s Day crowd. It’s a way to court return customers and to bring in new ones.”Once the stigma goes away, and people are wanting to try it, as states come on and it becomes normal, it’s going to be like going to a bar and getting a cocktail,” said Joudeh. This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday, already one of the busier days for dispensaries.A way to show love can be both red and green.
