A water main break Friday morning in Denver has closed East Evans Avenue between Monaco Parkway and Holly Street, and the road will be closed all day. Denver Water said the break happened at about 9 a.m. on the 5800 block of East Evans Avenue. Water is expected to be restored by 8 p.m., and the stretch of Evans Avenue should reopen by midnight, Denver Water said. The break happened on a 16-inch water main line, according to spokesman Travis Thompson.”Denver Water has not identified the cause of the break,” Thompson said in a statement. “Many factors can contribute to a water pipe breaking — including age, pipe material, how corrosive the soil is, water flow, temperature and more.”About 14 businesses near the break are without water as crews complete repairs, officials say.Thompson said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
