Thanks in large part to the presence of LeBron James, veteran forward Richard Jefferson has a 2016 NBA championship ring from his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

But all that goodwill and many years of friendship are nothing compared to the hassles Jefferson faces when he’s asked about where his buddy James will sign this offseason as a free agent.

In a Snapchat post picked up by an ESPN reporter, the current Denver Nugget announced he has “decided to end my friendship” with James, his teammate from 2015-17, in hilarious fashion.

“Truth be told, I never liked the guy. He works too hard it makes the rest of us look bad. He’s my son’s favorite player and I view that as a complete betrayal of how hard I’ve worked to put a roof over his head,” Jefferson snapped.

So if any basketball fan happens to see Jefferson on the street, feel free to ask him about his college career at the University of Arizona. Ask him about his 17 seasons in the NBA with eight different teams. Ask him if he’s close to retiring.

Just don’t ask him about LeBron James’ future plans.
