DENVER — A Winter Storm Warning is in place for Denver and the Front Range from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.
The area saw some snow showers Friday evening with light accumulation of an inch or two in the metro, with several more in some outlying areas.
Snow will return Saturday afternoon and turn heavy during the evening hours. That is when the best accumulating snow will hit.  Snow could fall at times overnight at an inch an hour.
We’ll wake up on Sunday morning with between 6-8 inches of snow in Denver with more possible south and west of downtown.
Light snow will continue on and off on Sunday with additional accumulation possible.
Snow should finally end early on Monday morning.  Total snow looks to fall between 8″-16″ across the region with the lower amounts east of Denver and the deeper totals south and west.  We have more accumulating snow in the forecast for late Wednesday into Thursday.
A long period of heavy snow is on the way beginning Friday evening that is forecast to last through Sunday afternoon. Snow is expected in a couple of different waves during the weekend with the heaviest coming Saturday night into Sunday.
Roads and traveling will become treacherous.
It will be much colder and windy all weekend. Highs Saturday and Sunday won’t get out of the 20s and lows will be in the teens.
